Geothermal - Other Considerations

Heat pump installation is a major consideration. It’s important to ensure that your new geothermal system will be truly built to last by working with an experienced installer who will provide the highest-quality work. At Ground Loop, we’re the premier provider of geothermal system installation in the Maryland region and we have installed far more systems than any of our closest competitors.

Here are a few factors that must be taken into consideration prior to your system’s installation:

Piping

A thick but flexible piping is used in geothermal installations which is crafted from high quality, high-density polyethylene. All below-grade connections must be made by heat fusing to ensure a strong and long-lasting connection without any threads. After installation, piping must be purged to remove construction debris, flushed to remove air, and then pressure tested to 100 PSI before backfilling or grouting takes place. Ground Loop uses only the highest-quality materials and we guarantee our loops for twenty years.

Sizing

At Ground Loop, we use multi-speed geothermal equipment so that a system can be sized to handle both your heating and your cooling needs. For example, a typical home needs more heating than it does cooling, so your home may require a 4 ton system for heating, but in the summer you may only need 2 tons for cooling. Therefore, we can install a 2-speed, 4 ton geothermal system which will run on high speed during the winter for heating giving you all 4 tons, and then in the summer drop down to low speed and run as a 2 ton for your cooling. This allows for maximum efficiency in the winter, but also allows for proper humidity control in the summer. We use detailed information about your home as well as our extensive experience to recommend the ideal type of unit and loops for your home.

Correct Loop System

The specific loop type that you’ll require will depend on a wide variety of factors. We’ll work closely with you to design and install a system that will work best for your needs as well as the requirements of your land.
