Take a Front Row Seat for the Colemans Geothermal Journey

The Coleman Geothermal Journey

See the process of installing geothermal from the initial decision making to rebates and paperwork.

The Home Visit

Our design team has two main goals during the home visit: to evaluate your comfort needs and to gather details about your home.

You can expect a thorough discussion about airflow, balancing, and thermostat settings. We want to know what makes you comfortable and will ask how your current system performs. Does your Baltimore, MD, home have patchy hot and cold spots? What are your temperature preferences?

We will perform an accurate Manual J load calculation based on measurements of walls, windows, doors, insulation values, and air infiltration to help determine the size of the geothermal system needed to heat and cool your home.

Our design team will visually inspect your ductwork, radiators or baseboards, and electric panel to determine if modifications or electrical upgrades are necessary.

A thorough site evaluation will decide where we will bury the loop. This is a proposed location that the county permit office or a well driller will verify later in the installation process.

During the home visit, we will explain what you can expect from the installation. You will learn how long it will take to start and finish the work and how intrusive it will be.

We will discuss if geothermal works best for you compared with other systems such as furnaces, ductless, and air-source heat pumps.

In some situations, we can provide an accurate price onsite or within a few days.

We encourage you to ask us questions and air your concerns about our geothermal service. We will ask you a lot of questions, too.

Questions We Will Ask You:

  • What are your plans for your property? Are you considering new windows or added insulation? A deck or an added swimming pool? Is there a building addition in the future?
  • Is your current heating and cooling system operational?
  • What is your schedule?
  • Have you thought about how you will pay for your new system? Ground Loop Heating and Air Conditioning offers multiple financing options.
  • Do you have an accurate individual plat or survey for your property? You will need it before we begin installation.
  • What is located underground on your property?

We will call Miss Utility to mark public utilities. We also need to know the locations for the pool lines, power to the shed, water to the barn, sprinkler systems, dog fences, propane or oil tanks, power to a light pole, and septic systems.

Our design team will glean as much information as possible during the home visit so the installation will go smoothly.
