Geothermal is Like Money in the Bank
In today's economic environment, wise purchases are more important than ever. With skyrocketing fuel prices showing no sign of stopping, making a smart investment that lowers your heating and cooling bills is a great way to start. By installing a WaterFurnace geothermal heating and cooling system you can save money from day one and add value to your home for years to come.
WaterFurnace geothermal systems use the free energy below the ground to help you save up to 70% on your utility bills. In fact, the savings are so great that WaterFurnace owners typically save more on their heating and cooling bills than the extra monthly loan cost they pay from installing the system - creating positive cash flow.
Andy Fracica,
WaterFurnace's Director of Marketing, has experienced these savings
first hand. His home in Fort Wayne, IN is approximately 2800sqft with
two floors and a full basement. In September of 2007, Andy replaced his
90% efficient gas furnace and 10-SEER air conditioner with a five-ton
WaterFurnace Envision unit and a ground loop utilizing vertical wells
for heat transfer. While his average utility bill for his conventional
heating and cooling was $310 a month, his new Envision system only
costs him $157 a month, generating savings of about
$153 a month.
The installation cost of the WaterFurnace system was $20,000. Fracica received a $2,000 rebate from the state of Indiana, and a $300 tax credit from the federal government to reduce his total investment to $17,700. He financed the entire project for 20 years at a 7.25% interest rate resulting in a $103.05 monthly payment. Considering that the WaterFurnace system provides $153 in savings a month at a cost of $103.05 a month, Fracica has enjoyed a $49.95 positive cash flow per month.
WaterFurnace geothermal systems are also much more
reliable and have a longer lifespan than conventional heating and
cooling systems. Where a gas furnace and central air conditioner may
need to be replaced after 10 years, a WaterFurnace unit typically lasts
20 years or more, and the ground loop lasts a lifetime. If a
conventional system replacement cost of $7,000 were
included in the above example, the average monthly savings of installing a WaterFurnace system would double to $100.36.
Because
of these impressive economic benefits, a WaterFurnace geothermal system
adds market value to a property. Imagine how easy it would be to sell a
prospective buyer on a heating and cooling system that will put money
back in their pocket, every month. In fact, owners are likely to recoup
their initial investment and more upon the sale of their property. Even
if the geothermal unit is near the end of its useful life, the loop
will maintain its value and the unit can
typically be replaced at the cost of a conventional heating and cooling system.
Based on this information, the decision is clear. There is simply no better way to combat high energy costs than installing a WaterFurnace geothermal heating and cooling system. With a positive return on investment from day one and added property value, installing a WaterFurnace system is like money in the bank.
